Politics after the bump
Montreal just passed a resolution to have all unowned pit bulls euthanized, while all owned pit bulls must be sterilized and can’t leave their homes without a muzzle. What kind of psychotic, ignorant, fear-mongering bullshit could possibly lead to something like this being approved?
Also who wants to rent some vans and go adopt some dogs?

Do pit bulls speak English or something?

A woman got mauled, so they passed a new law that’s similar to other provinces. Unfortunately the breed is dangerous

I saw that. Dumb legislation is dumb. Blame the owners for any wrongdoings of their animals.

Pretty much any dog is dangerous if it is poorly socialized. Pitties are great, super friendly dogs when raised properly.

Non-evidentiary discrimination, its not just for humans ™

Ontario has already has been like that, Windsor/Toronto. But my girlfriend’s pitbull is 9 years old. Never brought her to the U.S. becasue she afraid they wont let her dog back into Canada. Its a bullshit law and apparently everyone just lies and say they have pit bull-boxer mixes or whatever.

I’m not a dog person by any stretch of the imagination but this is just dumb.
There’s no reason anyone should be scared of my dog unless you’ve got marshmallows or popcorn then she won’t leave you alone.

One day, some crazy PETA member that happens to be ex-military will get a rifle and shoot idiots that make decisions like these. Then, other stupid people that are tempted to make decisions like these might think twice.
I would not cry for those people if something like this happened. Fucking animals!

You know what breed is more dangerous than pit bulls? Humans.
You what else is more dangerous than pit bulls? Cars.
Ban them first, then let’s talk about a breed of dog that has been demonized by a media that also believes that sex and swearing are bad.

Super ignorant, scientifically baseless opinion. Unfortunately, plenty of people in power think like you. Just sad.

All dogs are dangerous.
There’s no escaping the fact that they evolved from wolves.
Let’s sterilize them all.
Sarcasm aside, raise your dog well and they won’t attack people.

Wait ... so are white pitbulls alright then?
![]() 09/29/2016 at 13:37 |

It’s just another example of fighting a symptom, not the disease.
Statistically, pitbulls are responsible for the greatest portion of attacks. But it is not an inherent aspect of the breed.
Insteed, shithead owners that would recklessly raise a dog in a manner that may lead to attacks, gravitate to pit bulls.
![]() 09/29/2016 at 13:42 |

While we’re at it, let’s get rid of all the toy dogs, since they are statistically more likely to attack.

That’s the thing though, the breed ISN’T dangerous, they’re just more frequently raised and trained to become dangerous. Numerous studies have conclusively proven that when raised in a friendly, caring environment pit bulls are as loving and docile as any other breed. And when raised in an environment where violence is encouraged any breed can be as dangerous as pits are made out to be. In other words, it isn’t nature, it’s nurture.

Well, I’ve been bit twice so I think being concerned about dogs that are not on a tight leash and muzzled while in public is a valid request. And, I’m a dog person in spite of this

BULLSHIT
A well trained dog won’t attack people. Isn’t it a bit excessive to ban an entire group of dogs because one woman got mauled?

Ignorance sucks. Any dog will be a menace if it’s owner trains it to be. Pitts are generally very sweet and love to snuggle. This is ridiculous

In Montreal they do, but refuse to admit it.

This is not about dogs - it is about specific breed of dogs. Not sure if you missed the part of them killing all of the pitties in shelters, arbitrarily, based on looks?
![]() 09/29/2016 at 13:57 |

Exactly! I can’t believe they are about to euthanize a bunch of innocent dogs. Euthanize the shitty owners first. Then euthanize all stupid people. Leave the dogs alone!

I wish could drive up there and take as many of those poor dogs as possible

There’s a documentary on Netflix called
The Champions
. One section focuses on the history of “vicious dog breeds” through the 20th century. What we’re dealing with in regards to Pit bulls has happened before (numerous times) with other breeds. It comes down to whatever breed is in vogue to be trained to be vicious. The lovely German Shepard that many many love, and almost nobody worries about today, was once treated and viewed as we do pit bulls. I strongly suggest watching the movie, it just may change your point of view. It changed mine.

I personally think that any dog should be free to roam in your house or fenced in yard. When they’re out in public they should be on a short leash, that way no gets bit. When I was 7 years old the dog next door wandered into my front yard, 8 stitches to my calf. Four years ago a relative dropped by for a picnic and tied their dog to a tree. I walked by and the dog managed to get my ankle, 12 stitches and ultimately an infection. The owner freely admitted this isn’t the first time the dog has attacked people, completely unprovoked. So yeah, I think owners need to take control of their animals when out in public and make sure no one is a victim. That’s not bullshit, that’s common sense. The Quebec law may be unfairly targeting one breed, where in reality the same law should apply to any animal capable of doing harm. That’s not bullshit, that’s common sense.

I got it twice, I’m not ashamed of asking owners to control their animals while in public.

This makes me so angry. Those poor, poor dogs. :(
Drop the hammer on bad owners, not a whole breed.
